China's dominance in the solar energy sector is evident in its construction of two-thirds of all global solar and wind generation capacity. The nation is not only leading in installation but also in manufacturing, causing consternation among European companies such as Siemens Gamesa. These firms are demanding protection as Chinese companies, with their highly competitive costs obtained via governmental subsidies, secure contracts for some of Europe's most significant offshore wind farms.

The oversupply has driven innovation, with Chinese companies investing heavily in research and development to improve efficiency and reduce costs further. This has made Chinese solar panels cheaper than those produced by other countries, contributing to a global shift towards renewable energy. In the words of Niccolò Machiavelli, "It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both." China's aggressive strategy in the solar energy sector has certainly made it a force to be feared, but it also presents opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefit.
