While I agree with some of your criticisms of the film, I believe it has merit as a historical drama.
And while I understand your concern, I believe the film tried to portray Osage culture and history respectfully and accurately, as evidenced by Scorsese's extensive research and consultation. Additionally, some Osage characters were shown as active agents, such as Mollie Burkhart and John Wren.
While the film is more conventional than some of Scorsese's previous works, it still has some elements of surprise and subversion.. It explores relevant and resonant themes such as the corruption of power, the exploitation of resources, and the injustice of racism.
